Teresa and Peter contacted me about photographing a fun announcement picture that would be their method of telling the whole family that they wer pregnant with their second child. They also wanted to do some solo shots of their little boy, Eason. I was happy to help out and we started brain-storming about ideas of how we could do it.
Other than some standard “chalkboard” images, we decided that making a fake movie poster would be a fun idea. I’d seen this done before on Pinterest but had never done one personally and of course I was up for the task.
We photographed down in Marymoore Park in Redmond which is where they live. Sarah and I met them there and we walked all around, capturing some great images along the way. We even managed to squeeze in some more personal portraits of Teresa and Peter. After Marymoore, we headed to their house were we continued shooting Eason’s solo session.
For his session, I decided to stick to shooting on their guest bed as this can frequently yield great images, and yield great images it did. Eason was a total ham in front of the camera and wasn’t shy to giving me a great big smile.
The movie poster image did require a fair amount of editing in Photoshop. The wall we shot against had lots, and I mean LOTS, of scratches and dents in it. I had to manually clone out all of those, along with my general edits, and then add all the lettering. I have to say, coming up with the title, the “rating” and the arrangement was by far the hardest part. After several back and forth’s with Teresa, we landed on a great poster.
This whole session was a blast and I’m so honored to be part of sessions such as this. Thank you Teresa and Peter!
