What a small little world we live in. I knew Katy very briefly when one of her friends used to date one of my old co-workers. I didn’t know Don, however I am friends with one of Don’s, cousin’s, wives. So in a round-about way, I was kind of linked to Don also. Don is 100% not a “photo guy” but I think Katy and I were able to break him down enough to get what we needed out of him. Although when he was around his groomsmen, he would come alive and really show his funny personality which would yield great images of them.
Katy’s maid of honor is also going to be one of my bride’s for this coming year. I love my photography family tree growing.
Crossroad Weddings is a relatively new venue in Snohomish Washington. It was your typical large farm (Thomas Valley Farm) that would do corn mazes around Halloween, then started branching out into other events throughout the year and eventually weddings. The space that they’ve setup for weddings is gorgeous! It basically a gargantuan barn that is sectioned off so it can be customized to each wedding. This made it great for separating the ceremony site from the reception and eventually transitioning the ceremony location to expanding the reception area and for dancing.
The grounds also had various areas that made for some great images (see the groomsmen in the train below). Not to mention just the outside of the barn which has so much character itself.
If I had to come up with a theme for Katy and Don’s wedding, it would be Family and Friends. Can you say 8 flower girls and 5 ring bearers?! I loved it! They basically tried to include all the kids in on their big day and I’m sure the littles won’t forget this.
Details, details, details. This wedding was chock full of little details. Photographers love weddings with lots of details because we get to capture all these little things and they help us tell the story of the wedding day as well as helping to convey the bride and grooms personality in all this decor. Everywhere I pointed my camera was a new little something that was picture-worthy. Thank you Katy for the details!!!
