I was recently contacted by our good friends Eva and Matt Foster about doing a photo shoot with of some of their family. I gladly accepted as I love photographing them mainly because of their VERY photogenic daughter Mackenzie. I’ve photographed her a couple of times now and she is such a wonderful subject in front of the lens and even though she is only 5, she takes perfect instructions for posing.
After going back and forth on when to schedule the shoot and where, we landed on Forest Park in Everett Washington on Mother’s Day. Luckily it was incredible weather that day however that made the park extremely busy but we were able to find some more secluded areas that wouldn’t be cluttered with people in the background. The other problem was the sun itself and shooting at 2pm. We HAD to shoot in the shade which was difficult to find at times.
In the end, we got some great family shots, some fun poses, recreated some older family photos that Matt and his brother had taken years ago, and some super cute images of Mackenzie. She was of course the star of the show.
Below are the finals that we came away with from this session.
Getting some of these incredibly adorable images is super easy when you have such great subject although there are some tricks of the trade to making it happen. The following is a behind the scenes shot of me taking a picture the preceding image of Mackenzie with Sarah holding a scrim above her to make sure she had nice even light bathing on her from the sun. Thanks for the behind the scenes shot Eva!
