Many of you know that the other half to this business, my wife Sarah is pregnant with our first (and only) child. We have just about a month before we get to meet baby Delilah. We’ve talking about getting out to do some maternity pictures for quite awhile. As the weather has been turning here in Seattle, one day last week we just decided to do it that night.

We quickly gathered a couple outfits and jumped into the car. We didn’t even really know where we were going but I had seen a nice open field the weekend prior and I just started heading that direction. We were really pressed for time as the sun would be setting within a half hour and it wasn’t very sunny to begin with. I was really hoping for some more color in the skies but you use what you’re given. It’s crazy to think that these pictures were taking in a large field with businesses all around but you could never guess that.
We reached the field, shot as quickly as possible to get as many “keepers” as we could. We came away with some great shots and they will be priceless when we look back on them years and years from now.
I think that is the best reason to take maternity pictures. It isn’t about the shots at that moment in time, it’s being able to look back and reflect on that magical time.
