This was quite a story to how we got to this wedding. I actually went to school with both the bride and the groom. About two years ago, Kelly contacted me about photographer her wedding and said how much she loved my images and wouldn’t have anyone else do it. Holy compliment! I thanked her profusely and told her I would love to.
It turned out that their original date I was already booked and since she hadn’t booked the venue yet, she actually moved the date of the wedding just so I could photograph it. At one point the wedding was going to be in Seattle, then Whistler, then back to the Northwest. She ended up postponing the wedding until the following year just so she could find the perfect venue.
Here’s what I didn’t know, Shawn and Kelly had already gotten married by a justice of the peace. Kelly tried to put several “weddings” together over the course of a year or so but nothing was falling into place how she wanted.
Kelly finally landed on having a small, family and friends, brunch at Saltys on Alki Beach in Seattle Washington. She had booked a private room that had a deck that overlooked the beautiful Seattle skyline. From the Space Needle, to the home of the Super Bowl winning Seattle Seahawks, you could see all of Seattle’s landmarks. Salty’s is an amazing restaurant and they didn’t disappoint on this front. I personally overheard many guests saying how good the food was.
It may not have been what Kelly originally had in mind but it was a perfect afternoon filled with love and laughter.
