I first met Luke and Alyson at a little coffee shop up on Seattle’s Queen Anne Hill. After talking for just a couple of minutes, I could tell how much in love these two were. One of the biggest tells for me is when the groom-to-be is interested in everything wedding related we talk about. Everything! He knows how special this day is for his future wife and wants to do everything in his power to help it be perfect. This is what Luke was doing.
After several emails back and forth with Alyson about her special day, I started getting more and more excited to shoot it. I also thoroughly enjoyed photographing this wedding because my six months pregnant, amazing partner in crime (and her lesser-known title, wife) Sarah was there shooting with me. It’s a rarity that Sarah has the time to come along and help at a wedding but the cards aligned and we got to be the perfect team for the day.
Speaking of perfection, the day was just that. Our lenses had something interesting to point at at all times. From Alyson’s amazing green shoes, beautiful quite and intimate portraits in the woods, emotional tears during the ceremony (for Alyson AND Luke), a pretty awesome mother son dance, some epic live music at night featuring Luke on trumpet, all the way up to the bubble filled exit. And the location was to die for; Luke’s parent’s house with a giant front yard for the ceremony and big backyard for the reception. I think one of my favorite parts though was the deserted field with waist-high grass and plants just behind their backyard.
It was a perfect day for a perfect couple and we wish only the best for you two.
