Seattle Wedding Photographer – Early Morning Backyard Wedding

I think one of the truly best compliments you can get as a wedding photographer is to have another wedding photographer, someone who’s work you look up to personally, ask you to shoot one of their family members’ wedding. That is exactly what this wedding was. This beautiful bride is the sister of my friend and fellow photographer, Christine Moody of Trimood Photography. I’ve worked on several projects with Christine (such as this wedding and her business promo video) and I was absolutely delighted when she told her sister that she HAD to use me for her wedding.

The wedding was held in the backyard of Allison’s parents house deep in the woods of Redmond Washington. Sarah and I had trekked out there about a month before the wedding to scope out the place and we both couldn’t believe how much work was left to do to get it “wedding ready”. A backyard wedding is a perfect excuse to do some home remodeling 🙂 They were adding a brand new deck as well as french doors on the upper and lower levels. Also some landscaping including a brand new garden section. Anyway, long story short, I was blown away when I arrived on the wedding day to see everything complete and looking amazing. Big props to Allison’s father for really working his butt off to complete the tasks.

The decor was very DIY’ish and looked perfect for the setting. I think my absolute favorite piece was the actual book that was cut into the shape of a big “S” to signify the couple’s new last name, Stafford. Add this to the table settings with old books, vials of herbs, and stocks of lavender on the plates and it made for quite a sight.

Allison and James both looked so amazing and it was a perfect day for a wedding. I have to throw out some BIG props to Christine for lugging a beautiful vintage sofa out there so we could use it in some pictures on the unpaved road. Those images are some of my favorite to date.

Congratulations Allison and James!
