I have been looking forward to this wedding for almost a year. Carolyn is the sister of one of my grooms from the last year. She booked me after watching me capture her brothers’ wedding. What an honor to be part of this family in capturing multiple weddings for them.

Carolyn told me right up front that her wedding would require a bit of hard work on my part and I was of course happy to tell her I was up for it. Carolyn had a perfectly planned wedding including a catholic mass at the Villa Academy Chapel in Seattle followed by a lovely reception at the Lake Washington Rowing Club.

I was able to bring along my friend and fellow photographer, Ian Ludwig, to this wedding as a second shooter to capture that extra angle. We were tag-teaming the entire day as one fluid entity and he was able to come away with some great images for the client.

Catholic masses are rather interesting to photograph. They are quite long and have so many traditions to capture along the way. Basically as a photographer, you have to always keep your head on a swivel looking for good pictures but for the most part, you capture whatever piece of the mass is going on at that moment, and then wait until the next piece. The bonus is that usually the inside of these chapels are absolutely gorgeous and yield amazing images and the Villa Chapel is no different.
