I always gauge how good a tip or idea is by asking myself if I would have done it at my own wedding had I know at the time. This tip is so dang cool that I legitimately wish we did it.

One of the more popular things to do in the past has been to put disposable cameras on every table at your reception, let the guests snap away, and then get all the film developed. Then you get to go through all those great images from your wedding. While I still see the disposable cameras here and there during weddings, it is quickly fading away as the rise of the more modern version is increasing in popularity.

Everyone…EVERYONE brings a camera to a wedding. It’s in their pocket, inside their cell phone. And everyone uses their camera phone at your wedding; snapping pictures of everything, all parts of the day, not just the reception which is the only thing the disposable can cover.

But how do you get these images from people? How do you make sure you see all these images? As the title says, “create an Instagram hashtag” for your wedding. It’s so simple. Anyone can create a hashtag and anyone can use that hashtag when posting photos to social networks.

All you have to do is make a sign and put it somewhere where people will see it when arriving to your wedding telling them what the hashtag is. After the day winds down, just search that social network for that hashtag and boom, there is all your guests images.

You can even use services to then download all the images that use your specific hashtag.

AND, that same hashtag will work on pretty much all social networks people might post to: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc.

So, pull up your wedding to-do list right now. Go ahead, I’ll wait……..and write down “Create Wedding Hashtag”.

Oh and by the way, if I’m your photographer, even though I’ll shoot around 2000 images of you wedding, you’ll probably still see an Instagram or two from me 🙂
